It is important for those new to Islam to be able to put into context the origins of Islam, the life of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and the society and environment from which he came since this unique event and its aftermath has become the focus of their lives. Because of this and the spiritual benefits to be gained from visiting Makkah the New Muslims Project took on a new and exciting challenge and in 1995 organised the first Umrah trip followed by another in 1997.

During Umrah visits are organised to historical sites and places of interest. For those who aspire to perform Hajj, trips to the Hajj sites and their significance are also included.

For many the performance of Hajj can be worrying because of cost, the numbers of pilgrims participating, and the planning and preparation involved. The Project, through its assistance and advice, provides a fully informed and safe environment where Hajj can be performed. Umrah and Hajj trips are advertised in ‘Meeting Point’ up to a year before the event so that those wishing to take part may make the necessary preparations. A saving scheme has been established at the Project centre so that, having made the intention, gradual savings can be made for the trip.

A comprehensive weekend induction programme is held shortly before the departure date so that all the participants feel confident in knowing the correct way of performing Hajj or Umrah.
